How to Wear Your Baby Carrier Safely
Wearing your baby safely and comfortably is one of the most nurturing things you can do — and it starts with the right fit and a calm setup.Whether you're a first-time parent or getting to know your new carrier, these simple steps and safety reminders will help make the experience secure and soothing for both of you.

Essential Safety Reminders
- Always make sure your baby’s head is turned to the side, so their nose and mouth are free — not pressed against your chest.
- Keep the Velcro on the hip belt clean and fully fastened to ensure a secure fit.
- If the hip belt seems to “stick out”, it’s likely not properly fastened — fold and refasten it as shown in the instructions or video guide.
Step-by-Step Guidance for a Secure Fit
- Position the Hip Belt Correctly
Fasten the hip belt centred around your waist — not off to the side. It’s better to start slightly too high than too low, as it will naturally settle into place once your baby is inside.
- Adjust the Seat Width
Use the adjustable bar to support your baby from knee to knee, allowing them to sit in a natural “M-shaped” or “spread-squat” position, where the knees sit slightly higher than the bottom.
- Create the Right Seat Depth
Gently help your baby’s bottom slide down into the seat to encourage proper hip alignment. This supports healthy hip development and creates a deep, secure seat.
- Check the Strap Tension
Tighten the shoulder straps enough to hold your baby close — but not too tight. Their back should remain slightly rounded, and you should be able to slide a relaxed hand between their back and your chest.
- Adjust the Head Support
Use the adjustable headrest by fastening the lower buttons to the upper loops. In most cases, two buttons fastened is enough to provide support without restricting movement.
Helpful Tips for a Calm Start
- Choose the right moment: Try the carrier when your baby is well-rested, recently fed, and has a clean nappy.
- Ease them in gently: Before fastening all buckles, hold your baby close and gently rock them against your chest to help them settle.
- Soothing comfort: If your baby is fussing near your chest, they may be comfort-seeking due to your scent. A dummy can help ease them into a relaxed state during the first few wears.
